Center for English Studies CES

Center for English Studies

Founded in 1979, CES has over 30 years’ experience teaching the English language to students from across the globe.

In England all teachers have, as a minimum, either the Trinity TESOL or Cambridge CELTA qualification, with many holding specialist EFL teaching diplomas and degrees.
In Ireland all of our teachers hold a university degree plus an ACELS recognised teaching qualification, with many holding specialist EFL teaching qualifications, such as DELTA.

All of our schools in Ireland and England our teachers are chosen not only for their experience but also for their enthusiasm, positive attitude and their ability to make language learning fun.

All CES schools offer homestay and a wide variety of accommodation options. The combined academic knowledge, administrative skills  and depth of experience of our staff in the UK and Ireland means that CES can provide and deliver  courses and service that will meet your exact requirements.

In 2007 CES was awarded the ‘Star English Language School in Europe’ with four centres or less and we were shortlisted for the same award every year between 2008 – 2011. CES is the only school to have been nominated for this award for 5 consecutive years! CES is recognised and accredited by the British Council in England and ACELS (the Irish Department of Education) in Ireland. CES Ireland is also a founding member of Marketing English in Ireland (MEI).

CES Dublin and CES Harrogate are official Cambridge Test Centres!

Students can take the FCE or CAE exams onsite at CES at the end of their preparation course.

The Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses are designed to prepare students for one of the following Cambridge Examinations:
  • First Certificate in English (FCE)
  • Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

The Cambridge Examinations usually take place four times a year in March, June, August and December. Our courses are scheduled to finish the week before the exam date. Students are advised to arrive one week before the course start date to allow time for assessment. We cannot accept a student for any examination course until CES have confirmed the student is at the appropriate level for their chosen examination. Every student is then appointed a tutor to monitor and continually assess their progress with CES.

*The First Certificate course is guaranteed to run in CES Dublin.
The minimum age is 16 and there is a maximum of 14 students per class.
1 lesson in the UK = 45 minutes
1 lesson in Ireland = 55 minutes
